Positive: Professionalism, Quality
The Unusual Wedding Venue in the Center of Novi Sad
As many newlyweds know, when planning a wedding, you start off with an idea of what it should look like. Very often, however, things go astray and you end up having to compromise.
This usually results in changing certain aspects of the wedding, only to accommodate the needs and wants of others. Now, I’m not saying that this is necessarily bad, but sometimes taking all the factors and suggestions of friends and family will greatly affect your wedding day; and in some cases, even ruin it.
When I met with Milana and Milan and we started talking about the wedding, I could see that they had a clear plan for their wedding day; it was to be simple – the wedding ceremony at a registrar’s office, and then a nice stroll to a coffee and lounge bar nearby. Now this is where the tricky part is. Namely, Milana and Milan were in love with this place called Loft – Coffee and Lounge Bar, but since it is one of the most popular cafes in Novi Sad, it’s always busy. Needless to say, since they were regular customers there, they would not take no for an answer. In addition, they wanted a DJ to play the music which, they thought, would go nicely with the theme of the bar. Lucky for them, the management agreed to this. (I later found out that this was the first and last wedding celebration at this bar, as the staff at Loft had only agreed to it as a favor – in the name of love.)
So the venue was perfect and the music, which was initially targeted toward young people, was enjoyed by the elderly guests just as much. There was a buffet without the traditional wedding three-course meal, and the food was from the bar. It was absolutely delicious!
To sum up, in the end, the couple got the place they loved, the music they loved, and the wedding that was not about the food, and yet the food was plentiful. Milana and Milan simply had it their way. In my opinion, their wedding was focused on celebrating love, and for me that is an epic win.
For all you future brides and grooms, there’s only one more thing I’d like to share with you – “Be jealous but not of each other; be jealous of your marriage“. That is a portion of the official speech you hear when you’re getting married at a registrar’s office here in Serbia. It was written by our famous writer and poet, Dusko Radovic.
Hope you liked my mini story. I intend to post more of these so I’d really appreciate your feedback. Let me know what you think in the comments below. Thanks.
